DESCRIPTION
Global Talents (www.globaltalents.ru) is a unique internet platform finding and supporting talented young people from all over Russia. The platform has formed intellectual and creative community of schoolchildren. Students under the guidance of their mentors, the Institute’s lecturers, have carried out this internet project.
The idea to create a new generation platform for identifying young talents from all over Russia was supported by Vladimir Putin at the Press Conference in December 2014.
Beta testing of the project started in November 2014. Since February 9, 2015, the website has been available for public. Today, it has upwards of 7000 schoolchildren from all over Russia.
Unique features of the educational project:
- organisation structure: the students themselves are the developers, curators, and moderators of the website;
- creation of new principles of interaction with target audience: students take part in the monitoring of the needs of students and form the principles of website’s functioning based on that;
- popularisation of Russian traditional cultural and moral values unobtrusively: thanks to participation in the project, students develop their spiritual and moral guidelines, respect for national and cultural legacy, and correct understanding of ‘social responsibility’;
- permanent interactive functioning: the website is provided with daily technical and ideological support;
- multi-purpose socialization: when carrying out the project, the students develop their professional and general cultural competencies.
GOAL
Development of students’ skills of working out and managing internet projects.
METHODS
Immersion into the project: training within actually operating internet project.
EXPECTED RESULTS
Formation of the skills of managing major multi-user internet projects, compiling technical and creative tasks, accumulating experience in strategic planning.
In course of the website’s functioning, the students learn to interact with different working groups (designers, linguists, psychologists, and journalists), thus acquiring experience of teamwork, creation, and management of a network community.
