IGUMO keeps expanding its international collaboration
The Institute for the Humanities and Information Technologies (IGUMO) has been cooperating with the Embassy of the Czech Republic for 4 years already, thus expanding the boundaries of its international activities. On December 12, there was a traditional meeting of IGUMO students, talented Russian schoolchildren, and the Embassy representatives.
The awarding of the winners of contests held by the Embassy of the Czech Republic jointly with IGUMO at the Global Talents web-portal of supplementary education was the occasion of the visit.
Participants were to study one of the main sights of the Czech Republic, St. Vitus Cathedral, and the works by Alphonse Mucha, an artist who had greatly contributed to the world art. Joint contests are aimed at strengthening friendly relations between the two countries and help schoolchildren and IGUMO students learn more about historical and cultural heritage of the Czech Republic, biography of its pedagogues, writers, and artists.
Vítězslav Pivoňka, Czech Ambassador to Russia, expressed the importance of cultural dialogue among countries for the sake of going beyond the inter-country boundaries and bringing people of the Earth closer together irrespective of their national belonging.
This idea found its reflection throughout the meeting. Schoolchildren from different cities and republics of Russia and IGUMO students read aloud poems in Czech and performed songs dressed in national costumes, thus erasing the boundaries between different nationalities.
Marina Volynkina, Rector of IGUMO, delivered a welcoming speech and thanked the Embassy officials for their hospitality, sincerity, and kindness. She emphasized the importance to strengthen relations among countries by means of children’s diplomacy.
Marina Volynkina reminded all those present that the following year would become the anniversary of IGUMO’s collaboration with the Embassy of the Czech Republic.
The number of the next year’s contests dedicated to the Czech Republic has already been coordinated. Five interesting intellectual competitions in different fields will be published at Global Talents in 2020.
At the end of the meeting, the guests tasted Czech traditional dishes. They also enjoyed the tour of the Embassy’s halls serving as the venues for negotiations of national importance and other significant events.
