Last week IGUMO Culture University ended its round of meetings. The theme of the last meeting was Symbolism and Art of North Renaissance.
In Italy Renaissance was making use of Latin heritage. At the same time in such countries as the Netherlands, France and Germany the paintings were full of Gothic might, constructive perfection and queer imagination. North Renaissance is a part of the Middle Ages in which it added mysterious realism with details of heathenism. Naturalism and expressivity made those paintings diploblastic. The mysteries which were made by Manet, Dürer, Jan van Eyck, Bosch still excite imagination (though it is possible that their ideas were easy to understand to their contemporaries).
The audience took part in the discussion of such difficult and diverse theme. The lecturer asked the audience several questions and the answers were immediate and clear. Only the ability of talented people to arouse interest (in the subject of the discussion) manages to bring spirit. There are many people of such talent in IGUMO! A new academic year will bring new meetings at IGUMO Culture University.
