For one day, the Institute for the Humanities and Information Technologies (IGUMO) turned into a place for horror film characters and fairy tale evil spirits. The walls of the Institute were covered with spider webs, pictures of bats and ghosts, and thematic posters.
The atmosphere of Halloween could be felt from the very moment of coming to IGUMO. Right after the turnstiles, fairy-tale characters treated everyone entering the Institute with candies. During the breaks, a spooky radio voice cited scary stories. The canteen menu was full of interesting dishes with unusual names, for example, goulash ‘Revenge of the Dean’.
Almost all IGUMO students came to the Institute dressed in costume. Those who did not have time to prepare were offered make-up. There was a photo zone in classroom 206 all day long and students could capture their Halloween images on photos.
The event team headed by Yulia Urazbaeva, Director of the Post Scriptum Moscow Drama Theatre, prepared a theatrical performance with a quest for Halloween. According to the script, IGUMO was invaded by vampires, puppets, and other characters that could only be defeated by good.
The fashion show and costume contest were the main events of the day. Rector of IGUMO Marina Volynkina, Deputy Rectors, and Deans acted as jury members.
The winners of the best costumes received an invitation to an acting workshop and theatre tickets from Yulia Urazbaeva, as well as bonus grade-rating system scores.
That is how Halloween took place this year. That amazingly fun-filled holiday gave students wonderful emotions before the beginning of their holiday break.
