On the 6th of February 2012 the classes began not only for the students of IGUMO & IT but also for the institute faculty. They took part in a scheduled retraining in the course «Psycho-pedagogical competence of the teacher and modern educational technologies of teaching at the institute of higher education». The series of classes was opened by professor K.A. Magomedov, Deputy Rector for academic projects. His review lecture was devoted to the analysis of foreign experience in the competence approach and the appraisal criteria of teaching.
What is competence? It is an ability to use knowledge, personal qualities and to be a professional. The modern tendencies of the development of professional skills demand that in order to be successful a modern specialist should not only possess a certain quantity of knowledge but also show his/her ability to deal with different situations that can appear in the sphere of his work.
Educational technologies are different all around the world, though they have connecting points. In the USA they follow a behavioral approach. The main points of this approach are leadership competence and an ability of a man to adapt to unexpected situations, to override them. In Great Britain they choose cognitive, ethical competence, a system of professional values. The term «metacompetence» is widely used in England and is connected with such notions as «self-development», «ability to self-training». Nevertheless the achievements of a man are considered by the result of the whole team.
The system of actions competences from France and Germany matches modern Russia most of all. These European countries came to this approach a little bit later than the USA and Great Britain – they studied the previous experience beforehand and used broadened and most suitable for a man versions. The competences of actions include the whole complex consisting of object, personality and social competences. So making a decision a qualified specialist shows his mastering an object (profession), his abilities of managing the situation and appraising the conditions objectively.
The structure and the content of bachelorship means having a well-tested assessment of the results and the range of this assessment should be more than just 1 to 5 to show the degree of readiness more objectively. The institutes of higher education apply different methods such as tests, reports, essays using a numerical score to assess them.
The multidimensional model becomes IGUMO & IT the most. In IGUMO the most effective method is to use competence oriented tasks. Doing such tasks the students recreate the avatar of the real world and show that they are ready to use the knowledge in the right way.
The theory multiplied by practice gives us a progression which shows the adjustment of graduating students to the real world, the needs of society, and the requirements of the market. So they are ready for work and grown-up life.
Next Thursday the classes will be continued at the Drama Department. It will be a vocal training for working in the classroom. Good luck to the faculty of the institute who finds strength to retrain.
