It is fair to say that recently the profession of accountant has been nearly of no interest, however accountants are still needed and well-paid. According to the data, provided by the website www.hh.ru in 2010 the number of vacancies in the accounting sphere in Moscow was 50 percent up the previous year. And the average salary of accountants was above average.
During the 2010-2011 academic year, IGUMO Department of Economics organized a lot of round tables, the participants of which discussed professional, ethical and social aspects of accounting. The best specialists shared the secrets of their profession with the students of the Department of Economics. At the end of the academic year there was organized a round table «Profession Accountant»; the chief accountants and their deputies from Moscow’s major companies took part in it. The students of IGUMO had a chance to ask them such questions as «is it difficult to work as accountant? What salaries do accountants usually have? What difficulties do accountants meet in their profession? What kind of music do they like? How do men- accountants feel if they work in a company with mostly female staff?» The Accounting and Finances Chair plans to organize such events in the future.
The main goal of the Accounting and Finances Chair of the Department of Economics is to prepare specialists in the accounting sphere. That was one of the reasons due to which there appeared the accounting office «A Jour» within the framework of the IGUMO Department of Economics. The students practice the theoretical knowledge which they achieve during classes and they already consult people for free getting real experience of accounting with the help of their teaching staff.
