VISITING HOUSE OF LEO TOLSTOY

TIME TRAVEL IN CENTRE OF MODERN MOSCOW

The MKIK provides great wonders from time to time. Our group visited the house where Leo Tolstoy lived. It was a wonderful adventure for everyone. Such events brighten the days of studying for every student and turn into memories full of happiness afterwards. We couldn’t help taking an amazing opportunity to expand our knowledge about the genius of Russian literature and learn more about his life.

We visited the Tolstoy House Museum. This place had an unforgettable atmosphere of his times. The noise of a dusty highway and our crazy speed of living stayed behind its walls. When we entered the house, the atmosphere of the nineteenth century absorbed us…

They say that only the one who values antiquity is able to travel to the past. It turned out that the photographers also have the right skills for it. Using camera as the main weapon, they capture the moments of history in their photos. It is a real act of travelling in time. Every inch of the rooms, every item, pattern, sunray, even the air made us feel such emotions like we met Tolstoy’s family there.

It’s hard to believe that Leo Tolstoy wrote his famous works there. Sophia, his wife, was the one to meet guests and collect the autographs of his talented contemporaries. On that day, we became their guests too.

Even Tolstoy’s favorite garden provided the atmosphere of his spirit. Many things changed since the time he lived, but the trees remember everything…

Warm September comes to an end, and autumn feels different in the museum than at the streets of Moscow. It’s very cozy there. This place is like a box of memories that attracts everyone to enjoy its content. I was greatly impressed by the museum.

All of it took place at the field trip of the second-year students from the Faculty of Photography. This is how we learn more about the biography and works of Leo Tolstoy.
