IGUMO and Bauhaus Launch an Online Intensive Course

The Bauhaus Dessau Foundation together with the Institute for the Humanities and Information Technologies (IGUMO) launches an online educational project for Russian teachers, students, and designers as part of the Year of Germany in Russia. Registration for the intensive course is already open. IGUMO students and employees are given a 50% discount for the course.

‘Bauhaus Open Studios - Teaching Models’ is a three-day online workshop. It is aimed at studying the pedagogical heritage of the Bauhaus and innovative concepts of design schools. The event will take place on October 15-17, 2020.

The intensive course’s programme includes:

  • lectures by speakers of the Bauhaus;
  • a virtual tour of the Bauhaus school;
  • learning about the historical heritage of the VKHUTEMAS school in online mode;
  • practical classes using unique methodological materials of professors of the Bauhaus;
  • a workshop based on the teaching methods of Russia’s first design school.

Participation in educational and creative projects at the international level is among the priority tasks of IGUMO. The Institute’s team presented a large-scale research project at the Bauhaus school in Dessau last academic year. Bauhaus experts highly appreciated its work. In spring, the students of creative fields of study took part in the online intensive course of Daria Sorokina, an employee of the legendary educational institution.

IGUMO is not only a participant but also an organiser of the programme in the new project named ‘Bauhaus Open Studios - Teaching Models’. In summer, the IGUMO team developed the landing page for the educational project. Today, it successfully collects applications from participants.

Today, the Agency for Relevant Communication at IGUMO is working on the distribution of information about the event among the target audience through the advertising tools on social media.

Art researchers of the Faculty of Design of IGUMO prepared a collection book of creative exercises based on the introductory course of VKHUTEMAS. Copies created by IGUMO lecturers and made up into pages by the Institute’s designers will be given to all participants of the intensive course.

Registration for the online workshop is already open. This is the first time of carrying out this unique project in Russia. It is a great honour for IGUMO to take part in its implementation and involve students in such initiatives, thus making it possible for them to reveal their creative abilities.
