Students of the Faculty of Photography presenter their best works
The Institute for the Humanities and Information Technologies hosted the opening of the exhibition of projects by first-year students of the Faculty of Photography. The young authors of projects already have certain professional experience: they prepared the works within their diploma defense as graduates of MKIK Photography College.
Continuing their education in IGUMO is a usual professional trajectory often chosen by college students of MKIK. In IGUMO, they receive higher education studying with their groupmates from college and studying under their beloved lecturers and deans.
The three best photo projects of the graduates of MKIK (currently IGUMO first-year students) are now exhibited in lecture room 110.
Mentors of their authors, professional photographers Vadim Gushchin and Ksenia Pronina told about each work briefly.
The Fears project by Elena Platonova, first-year student of the Faculty of Photography, is devoted to psychology of human perception. In her work, the author fulfilled a number of photographic principles and carried our deep study. Every black-and-white photo in the project is supplemented by brief description of emotions that it reflects. However, the psychological state of the model is clearly understandable without signatures.
Elizaveta Zemlyanova, Dean of the Faculty of Photography of IGUMO, opened the exhibition. According to her, it provides students with the opportunity to demonstrate their works and announce themselves. After Elena Platonova presented her photo project, she was invited to collaborate within a set of professional projects.
“If you work on yourself and develop, we notice it and give you more opportunities for professional fulfilment and collaboration with the industry’s representatives”, emphasized Elizaveta Zemlyanova.
Kristina Senyutina, first-year student of the Faculty of Photography of IGUMO, was the author of another project at the exhibition. She also worked on inner states trying to emphasize people’s emotions by means of colours.
The surrealist work by Daniil Ovchar titled ‘Moscow Surrealism’ combines architecture with different plots played in graphics editors.
According to Daniil Ovchar’s mentor Ksenia Pronina, graphics editors and post processing play an important role in the century of digital photography.
The students of the Faculties of Design and Photography have always had the opportunity to exhibit their works within the Days of Contemporary Art (DOCA) international festival. Now they can demonstrate their works not only at the festival but also throughout the academic year.
Marina Volynkina, Rector of IGUMO, spoke at the opening of the exhibition. She emphasized high quality of the works and congratulated the students on the opportunity to present their works to public.
Vadim Gushchin, Head of the Department of Photography of IGUMO, says that an artist has a need to demonstrate his or her works. To have such an opportunity, one should improve one’s skills and strive to creating high quality photo projects. The exhibition of the best photos will become an impetus for improving the professional skills of all students.
