Original training programs, a special course of Yandex, practical training in leading companies, workshops of industry representatives, and in-depth study of professional English make the Faculty of Advertising and PR of IGUMO unique. Its graduates are demanded in the field of communications.
Roman Kozlov, Dean of the Faculty of Advertising and PR of IGUMO, told in detail about the methods of educating communication specialists and the formation of individual career trajectory.
Two Relevant Profiles of Training
The Faculty of Advertising and PR has two relevant profiles of training: Arts&Cultural Communication and Digital&Content Marketing.
Arts&Cultural Communication profile is aimed at educating professionals capable of developing projects in art and culture. Such professionals must not only be proficient in the promotion tools but also understand contemporary art, understand artists and curators well, and be able to create thematic content accessible for wide audience.
Communication industry also needs professionals focused on modern digital culture. To educate such specialists, the Faculty carries out Digital&Content Marketing profile of training. Its students master all digital tools from online advertisements and email to SMM and content marketing.
Internet Marketing Programme of Yandex
Internet Marketing Programme has been worked out jointly with Yandex representatives. It is aimed at practical training of students for working with modern internet advertising tools. Yandex representatives and experts from major digital agencies interested in training of personnel for their industry deliver the classes.
Original Training Programmes from Practitioners
Representatives of communication industry make up the most part of the lecturers of the Faculty of Advertising and PR. Programmes of profession-related disciplines are original, worked out by practitioners taking into account labour demands.
Individual Career Trajectory
The Faculty of Advertising and PR helps all its student form their own career paths. The students acquire working experience in content creation, organisation of events, communication with bloggers, social media management, and analytics. Every phase of students’ practical training as well as every project they carry out helps students choose a specific profession.
Practical Training with Further Employment
The venues of practical training are chosen individually for every student. Depending on their professional interests, the students can undergo internships at digital agencies or marketing departments of major companies.
Students work with such brands as Renault, Oriflame, KFC, Sberbank, Lukoil, Rostelecom, etc. Graduates of the Faculty have portfolios with real cases. This makes it possible to demonstrate their real working experience to employers at the very beginning of their career path.
As a result, almost 100% of students are offered jobs after undergoing their practical training. That proves how much employers appreciate professional education level at the Faculty of Advertising and PR of IGUMO.
Opportunity to Launch Your Own Project at the Agency for Relevant Communication
The Agency for Relevant Communication of IGUMO employs graduates of different faculties. They create all the content for promotion of the Institute in online space.
The business incubator is the venue for students’ practical training. At the Agency for Relevant Communication, the students borrow professional experience of the graduates, team up, and promote the Institute’s projects: Global Talents, Days of Contemporary Art (DOCA) international festival, and KULTPROSVET public page. They acquire the skills necessary for professional communication, conflict resolution, and organisation of teamwork.
The Agency for Relevant Communication supports students’ initiatives to create their own projects. They help the students launch and promote them. KULTPROSVET public page created by IGUMO students is one of the bright examples of that. By now, it has over 63 thousand subscribers.
Weekly Meetings with Industry Representatives
Every Thursday, IGUMO hosts workshops of industry representatives including agency owners, marketing directors, creative directors, producers, creators of communication projects, media representatives, and bloggers.
They share their practical experience and secrets of their profession with students.
Studying Professional English
Knowing English is necessary for international communication. Students of the Faculty of Advertising and PR study English for 4 years, which exceeds the amount of academic load provided for by educational standards. The classes focus on studying Business English and professional vocabulary.
New Skill-Building Platform
IGUMO created a unique podcast project titled ‘Silver Age Human’. Advertising and PR students promote it.
Artificial intelligence competes with people in many fields of activity. This trend is becoming only stronger. IGUMO lecturers and students jointly worked out the concept of ‘Silver Age Human’. It is aimed at cultural development of communication professionals.
Advertising and Communication College
IGUMO also has a college based on the Faculty of Advertising and PR. The College can be entered after the 9th grade. It carries out the expanded training programme and uses the same educational technologies that are used at the Institute’s Faculty. After graduation from the College, one can start a professional career or continue education at the Institute.
