ïîäïèñàòüñÿEco-Friendly Habits: Guarantee of Sustainable Development ecological conference took place in MKIK. The students of different colleges introduced the results of their research and professional projects on the topic of ecology. They also came up with ideas of popularizing an eco-friendly lifestyle.
The conference began with greeting words of Marina Volynkina, Rector of MKIK. She thanked the college students for their active life position and noted the high relevance of their research.
Then Ianina Cozari (Belgium), Board Member of Brussels Press Club, appealed to the students. She emphasized the need to exchange experience in solving ecological problems. She also commented the role of the youth in popularizing eco-friendly habits.
The speaker thanked the students of MKIK and IGUMO for their interest in the topic of ecology and for participating in the World Press Clubs Alliance for Climate international event where the students and their mentors presented the From Russia – the New Generation’s Global Call to Action film.
Then the word was passed on to the students. In their messages, they approached the conference topic in different ways.
Using Recyclable Materials as a Factor of Preservation of Exhaustible Resources
Students of the Psychology College Anna Baydalina and Anastasia Nikulina generalized the world experience of reusing waste for heating and industrial needs. Based on a poll participated by 100 people, they have come to the conclusion that educational work on the topic of resource usage needs to be done. The students made the first step in this direction and hosted an interactive lesson in a school.
Ecology and Contemporary Art
Anna Kostetskaya, first-year student of the Design and Photography College, reported about Russian and foreign artists who attract attention to global ecological cataclysms. The students of creative fields of training can explore this topic in their art projects for DOCA festival.
How to Develop Eco-Friendly Habits? A Brochure and a Tracker
Viktoria Chenina, student of the Journalism and Publishing College, developed and presented a tracker for forming eco-friendly habits in 30 days. Her colleague Elizaveta Yashchishina presented a brochure with interesting data on resource usage and a compilation of materials on ecology.
Experts suggested the students to translate the projects into English in order to spread positive eco-friendly ideas all over the world.
Why Should One Sort Garbage? Helpful Cards
Daniil Vozchikov represented the Journalism and Publishing College at the conference. He introduced a series of educational cards, which tell accessibly about all the types of garbage and ways of its utilization.
Recycling Is the Second Life of Things with Care for Nature
Amina Aymakhanova and Ekaterina Lee researched the world knowledge of recycling and also found out 7 most eco-friendly cities. They paid special attention to popularizing the topic among audience of different age marking the potential of an interactive format.
Overview of Modern Literature Dedicated to Ecology
Tatiana Nazarikova, another student of the Journalism and Publishing College of MKIK, found interesting books dedicated to ecology for adults and children.
Forest Fires in Siberia. Preserving the Terrestrial Ecosystem
Anna Drozdetskaya, Alena Ermolaeva, and Elizaveta Semyonova touched upon the topic of forest fires. They rated the effects of the catastrophe in Siberia and suggested possible solutions.
Ecology of Food. Influence of Diet Choice on Our Body and the Planet
Based on the analysis of scientific papers, Antonina Kopyeva, student of the MKIK Journalism and Publishing College, presented her report on how diet habits affect air pollution and climate change. She especially emphasized the GMO problem.
Energy Efficient Buildings
Anika Cheban, MKIK lecturer, and Kristina Chebotarevskaya, student of the Architecture College of MKIK, presented designs of energy efficient buildings made by students within one of the project-oriented disciplines.
Problems of City Pollution by Birds
Aleksandra Matveeva and Nadezhda Klimenko, students of the Photography College, called on the participants to stop feeding birds in public places because they are the spreaders of many diseases. In many countries, this action is punishable by fines. The students dedicated an original photo project to this topic.
Utilization and Recycling as a Very Important Ecological Problem
Aleksandra Dyoma, first-year student of the Photography College, presented a series of photos created when visiting the Sobirator eco centre and told about this project in detail. She also called on the participants of the conference to support the petition about scaling up such projects.
Problem of Endangered Animal Species
Varvara Ivanova told about animal species that are close to extinction because of the current ecological situation. She paid special attention to measures aimed at preventing poaching.
Promotion of an Online Shop of Eco Bags on Instagram
Arina Efimenkova, student of the Advertising and Communication College, told about her experience of creating eco bags. She managed to sell around 130 shoppers. This small but important step plays a big role in the society’s refusal of plastic bags.
Analysis of Volunteer Projects in the Field of Ecology
Ekaterina Gaydenko, as a future promoter, analysed the activities of eco-focused projects and movements in Russia and called on the participants to join them.
Problems of the Impact of Livestock Production on the Environment and Vegetarianism as a Possible Solution
Based on scientific literature, Polina Gordienko, senior college student, identified certain ecological problems caused by livestock production. Those include irrational usage of land, greenhouse gas emissions, water expenses on food production, accumulation of toxic wastes, and lowering of biological diversity.
How are Eco-Friendly Companies in Russia Created and What Do They Do?
Sofia Belova created a compilation of companies in the fashion industry that resell, recycle, and redesign already used clothing.
World Ocean Pollution
During the conference, Anastasia Shigarova, student of the Linguistics College, touched upon a relevant topic. She presented alarming statistics and results of her own poll on the topic of people’s attitude towards ocean pollution.
Developing Eco-Friendly Habits as a Positive Factor of People’s Impact on the World
Aleksandra Ragulina explored the peculiarities of human behaviour and found a way to form eco-friendly habits. She also told about easy everyday activities, which help to lessen the pressure on the ecology.
Experience of Creating a Business Project on Producing Eco-Friendly Clothing
Andrey Zorin and Ekaterina Koklagina told about the problem of recycling textile. They created an eco-friendly clothing brand using recycled cotton. The project is relevant and has many followers in all Russian cities.
After the end of the conference, the students’ articles will be published in a scientific collection. Deans and lecturers of MKIK, Marina Volynkina, Rector of MKIK, Irina Belogortseva, Deputy Rector for Learning and Teaching, and Valentina Sinelnikova, research associate of MKIK, supervised the event’s preparation.
